Former CBN Governor Soludo Wins APGA Governorship Primary

 A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Soludo, has won the governorship primary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) held on Wednesday in Awka. Mr Soludo, a professor of econometrics, had been disqualified previously by a faction of the party headed via Jude Okeke, along with other aspirants. But the National Chairman of the party, Victor Oye, had informed the public to brush aside the news about Mr Soludo’s disqualification. “Who suspended him? Please neglect the impostors and desperadoes,” Mr Oye stated in a text message to PREMIUM TIMES earlier on Wednesday. “APGA has no factions. We are one, united party. Ask those parading themselves as acting chairman which convention produced them? I am the only constitutionally, legally and legitimately elected National Chairman of APGA. Nigeria Court Remands Two Teachers In Custodial Center For Alleged Homicide Of 8-Year-Old Boy

  A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kano on Wednesday ordered the remand of two teachers: Hajara Musa, 26, and Farida Ahmed, 26, for the alleged homicide of the 8-year-old boy. The defendants, who are residents of Kurna Quarters, Kano, are standing trial on a count charge of culpable homicide. The Chief Magistrate, Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti, ordered that the defendants be remanded in the correctional centre and adjourned the matter till June 28, for mention. Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mr Jamilu Abubakar, had informed the court that one Kamalu Suraj of Kurna Makaranta Quarters, Kano, reported the matter at Rijiyar Lemo Police Division Kano, on June 1.   The Federal Government was defiant yesterday over its suspension of Twitter as the ECOWAS Court of Justice, Abuja, in a landmark ruling, stopped it from prosecuting Nigerians using Twitter. The Court held that “Any interference with Twitter is considered as interference with human rights, and that will violate human rights.” The court “restrained the authorities of President Muhammadu Buhari and its agents from unlawfully imposing sanctions or doing anything whatsoever to harass, intimidate, arrest or prosecute Twitter and/or any other social media carrier provider(s), media houses, radio and tv broadcast stations, the plaintiffs and other Nigerians who are Twitter users, pending the hearing and dedication of this suit.” The ruling followed the suit filed in opposition to the government by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP and 176 worried Nigerians. No Pressing Need To Vaccinate Kids Against COVID-19 Right Now

  The World Health Organization is suggesting that parents should hold off on vaccinating their kids against COVID-19, according to its June guidance. The WHO states that since children have a tendency to experience milder symptoms compared with adults, they aren’t in pressing need of vaccinations unless they have a pre-existing condition. Instead, vaccines should be prioritized for those with such stipulations as well as for older adults and health care workers. “More proof is needed on the use of the different COVID-19 vaccines in children to be capable to make general guidelines on vaccinating kids in opposition to COVID-19,” the WHO states on its website.
