In honor of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the Prince of Wales has asked people to protect "dwindling" historic trees. To commemorate the Queen's 70-year reign, a network of 70 ancient woodlands and 70 ancient trees will be dedicated to her. Among those included are the woodland that inspired Winnie the Pooh's 100 Acre Wood and the apple tree where Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity. The prince stated that we must "keep the precious historic woodland habitats for future generations." The Queen's Green Canopy, whose patron is Prince Charles, has been encouraging people to plant trees in honor of the Jubilee and leave a legacy for the Queen.
