Visa And Mastercard Have Halted Their Operations In Russia

Image
In response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express have announced that all operations in Russia will be suspended. The impact on consumers, though, has already been minimised by Russia's big banks. Until the cards' expiration dates, shoppers will be able to use them to make purchases in Russia. However, foreign-issued Visa, Mastercard, or American Express cards will no longer operate in Russian stores or ATMs. Clients will no longer be able to use their Russian cards outside of Russia, nor will they be able to make foreign payments online. Outside of China, Visa and Mastercard alone handle almost 90% of all credit and debit payments. Previously, Russia's central bank stated that all Visa and Mastercard bank cards issued by Russian banks would continue to function normally on Russian soil. This is due to the fact that domestic payments in Russia are made using a national system that is not reliant on foreign systems. Sberbank, Russia'

According to rumours, the Queen will no longer live in Buckingham Palace and will instead reside permanently in Windsor Castle Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the 95-year-old queen has been residing at Windsor. As the UK faced its first national lockdown in March 2020, she and Prince Philip moved to the royal home in Berkshire. According to the Sunday Times, the Queen has grown to prefer life at Windsor, where she used to spend her weekends. When the Queen and Prince Philip relocated to Windsor during the Covid-19 outbreak, insiders say they "rediscovered the joys of their early years together." Before Prince Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99, they shared the palace as their last home together. The relocation is also thought to have been inspired by a 10-year makeover of Buckingham Palace, which makes it impractical for the Queen to live there at this time, according to The Sunday Times. "Re-servicing will continue until 2027. It's not really a place to

Ukraine claims that NATO's decision allows Russia to continue bombing its cities and villages. NATO has rejected Ukraine's request for a no-fly zone, triggering outrage from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who claims the decision allows Russia to continue bombing his nation. "As NATO allies, we have a responsibility to prevent this conflict from spreading beyond Ukraine because it would be even more deadly, catastrophic, and cause even more human misery." In a harsh and impassioned speech, Ukraine's president slammed the decision. "Today there was a NATO summit, a weak summit, a confused summit, a summit where it was evident that not everyone regards the battle for Europe's freedom to be the number one aim," Zelenskyy said late Friday in a televised address. "After refusing to establish a no-fly zone, the alliance's leadership gave the green light for more bombing of Ukrainian cities and villages today." Following an emergency meeting of

As Moscow's forces resumed their destructive campaign of artillery and airstrikes against civilian regions of Ukraine, the US representative to the UN declared the world had narrowly spared a nuclear disaster in Russia's attack on Europe's largest nuclear power plant. The US envoy, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said Russia's actions, which resulted in a large fire at the Zaporizhzhia facility, indicated a "dangerous new escalation" in its invasion of Ukraine, addressing at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Friday. "Russia's strike on Europe's largest nuclear power plant last night put it in great danger," she warned. "It was extremely risky and dangerous." It also put the safety of citizens in Russia, Ukraine, and Europe in jeopardy." Meanwhile, Ukraine's president chastised Nato for refusing to establish a no-fly zone, citing concerns that doing so might extend the conflict across Europe. "All
