Putin Has Already Committed War Crimes, According To Boris Johnson

Image
Boris Johnson has accused Russia's Vladimir Putin of war crimes in Ukraine. Bombing innocent civilians "already fully qualifies as a war crime," he declared at Prime Minister's Questions. He was reacting to Ian Blackford of the Scottish National Party, who asked for Mr Putin to be prosecuted. Following air strikes on Kharkiv, Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has already accused Russia of war crimes. Attacks on key cities have intensified a week into Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with conflict occurring in the north, east, and south. Boris Johnson branded the Russian military's operations under Putin's directives as "barbaric and indiscriminate" on Tuesday. "The world is witnessing the atrocities of Putin's war in Ukraine with every passing hour," said SNP Westminster leader Mr Blackford. He demanded that Mr Putin be charged with the "full spectrum" of war crimes accusations that are possible. "What we have

UK Ports Are'Moving Quickly' To Prevent Russian Ships From Entering The Country

Image
Following the passage of a rule prohibiting Russian ships from entering port, UK ports are "working at a rapid speed" to restrict them, according to a trade association. Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the UK was the first country to do so, and the EU is considering a ban. According to the UK Major Ports Group, Russian ships are diverting, at anchor, or being packed away. The RAC, on the other hand, believes that the prohibition will have little impact on petrol prices. On Tuesday, UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said that the UK had become the first country to adopt legislation prohibiting ships from accessing its ports if they have "any Russian connection." Some Russian-linked vessels have already been denied entrance to UK ports, according to Tim Morris, chief executive of trade organisation the UK Major Ports Group. He stated, " "Currently, several Russian-affiliated vessels are diverting on their approach to the United Kingdom. Some are a

Russia's Crude Oil Will Be Banned In Canada

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has ordered an embargo on Russian oil imports. Oil earnings, according to Mr Trudeau, have aided President Vladimir Putin and Russian billionaires. Western sanctions against Russia have targeted its banks, but the country's oil and gas shipments continue to be accepted. Canada, unlike Europe, is not overly reliant on Russian oil shipments. Despite the fact that the UK buys the majority of its goods from Norway and the United States, petrol prices in the UK hit new highs on Monday as the impact of Russia's invasion on global energy markets. "While Canada has imported very little in recent years, this step sends a strong message," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a press conference. According to Statistics Canada, Canada imported only C$289 million (£170 million) in energy items in 2021. Canada is the fourth-largest oil producer in the world. Europe, on the other hand, is heavily rel

Boris Johnson Says: Vladimir Putin Uses Barbaric Tactics

Boris Johnson said Vladimir Putin engaged in "barbaric and indiscriminate" tactics against civilians.   The Prime Minister said that the Russian President had "underestimated" the will of the Ukrainian people to fight and the determination of the West.   Speaking during a visit to Poland, he also said the UK had spent £220 million on humanitarian aid.   Meanwhile,  Secretary of State Liz Truss  said "nothing and no one is on the table" for more sanctions.   The UK is considering seeking to expel Russia  from the UN Security Council, according to the BBC.   Mr Johnson said he was "increasingly confident" that an invasion of Russia would not succeed, adding that Mr Putin "must fail" in his goals in Ukraine.   During a press conference with his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw, the Polish capital, he said that Putin is ready to "bomb towers, launch rockets into towers, kill children, as we see more and more. The White House Replies To Russia's Move To Activate Its Deterrence Forces

Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to put Russia's deterrence forces, which include nuclear weapons, on high alert is part of a larger pattern of unwarranted escalation and "fabricated threats," according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki. "This is really a pattern that we've seen from President Putin throughout this conflict, which is fabricating threats that don't exist in order to justify further aggression — and the international community and the American people should look at it through that prism," Psaki said on ABC's "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos. Furthermore, a senior administration official remarked on Sunday that Putin's decision was "yet another escalatory and utterly unneeded step," according to the official. "Putin has fabricated threats at every stage of this conflict to justify more aggressive actions — he was never threatened by Ukraine or NATO, which is a defensive alliance t
