A fast food addict who gorged on takeaways has revealed her secret weapon to slimming down - crossfit .

Frances Carpenter reached a whopping 23st 9lbs when she was just 25-years-old after over-indulging on convenience food.

But when she saw other family members lose their lives as a result of their weight, she decided to make a change.

The now 28-year-old, from Riverside, California, said she knew she had do something to change her own path because: "I just did not want that to be me."

She added: "I had contemplated weight loss surgery for a very long time, but honestly I couldn't afford it and it was not something my insurance was going to cover so I had to do it on my own."

Through healthy eating and an intense workout routine, the 28-year-old software support engineer managed to shift over 9st 4lbs - and its all down to dedication and hard work.
Frances now weighs 14st 5lbs and is determined to stick to her healthy lifestyle.

"I just woke up one day and knew this time would be the last time I tried to lose weight."
Before she set out on her weight loss journey, she wasn't enjoying her life, admitting: "I had very low self-esteem, was sad and depressed."

Frances was always proud of her appearance and tried to compensate for her weight in other ways.
She said: "I always kept my nails done, and my hair always looked perfect to try and make me feel a little better about my looks".

"Being as big as I was I had very little energy, I didn't go out much or partake in group activities."

"My weight held me back a lot of my life, mostly because of other people's perception of me."
"I didn't do a lot of things or take many chances. I was a home body most of the time. I just felt unhealthy mostly, I was always tired."

"I was getting to the point where I knew diabetes was going to be a health problem for me if I didn't change my habits. I did not want to be on medications for the rest of my life for something that I could control. I have seen family members lose their life because of their weight and weight related health issues, I just did not want that to be me.

"I started eating a low carb/high fat diet and worked out twice a day, five days a week. I would go to the gym before work at 5am then again after work at 5pm, I did mostly cardio because that was the only thing I knew how to do.. "

In just six months, she managed to drop 3st 13lbs. With the results starting to show and benefiting from increased energy, the computer whizz decide to take a tougher approach and joined a crossfit gym.

"Crossfit completely changed my workout routine. It incorporates every type of workout including cardio, weightlifting, gymnastics, and strength training, all at different intensity levels."

"Crossfit was really my missing piece,
"I have currently been doing crossfit for a year as of this month and have lost another 5st 5lbs."

After a year of vigorous training, Frances managed bring her total weight loss to date to 9st 4lbs.

"Now I feel healthy, I have tons of energy that I never had before. I'm confident, proud, and extremely happy. Words can not describe the feeling. I have enough confidence to share my story with thousands of people in the hope they also can see how capable they are."

With nearly 50k Instagram followers, Frances is empowering others by sharing her weight loss transformation online.

When asked if she had any message for those inspired by her journey she said: "I believe in self-help, I believe that it has to be the right time in someone's life to make this huge change."

"Timing is truly everything, I just woke up one day and knew this time would be the last time I tried to lose weight."

"Everyone is different, for some it might just click and for others it might be hitting rock bottom."

"I suggest starting slow.. change your diet or start exercising but don't do both right away. I think too much of a huge change causes people to fall off quick. You can lose weight if you just eat right, then slowly incorporate a exercise routine into your lifestyle change."

Frances has worked very hard for the pay off, has not cut corners or undergone surgery and is very proud of her results.

"I just want people to know natural weight loss is possible."
Now she says sje feels like a new woman.

"Physically I have more energy which is the best part. before I was always tired, now I am able to wake up early at 4am to get to my 5am workout."

"It's amazing how much your weight can weigh you down."

"I enjoy doing things now that I didn't before like theme parks, things that were weight restricted. I can now enjoy and not worry about how my weight will hold up with certain things. I can walk/run for long periods of time without getting tired or having to rest.

"I just don't get exhausted like I used to."

"All my relationships have changed a lot. I realized who my real friends are based on who supports my journey and putting myself out there.

"I find that dating is a lot easier now also because I am more happy and secure with myself."
