Britons Are Already Booking Overseas Beach Breaks To Malta And The Balearic Islands Before 'Green List' Update

Britons Are Already Booking Overseas Beach

Britons are already playing on booking foreign beach breaks to Malta and the Balearic islands before any adjustments to the UK's list of 'green list' countries for quarantine-free tour are announced today.

Ministers are under severe pressure to lift Covid travel restrictions to the Mediterranean locations after scientists declared them safe, and will meet this afternoon to figure out whether to expand the list.

And hopeful travelers have taken to social media over the past few days to disclose their plans for some summer sun abroad, with return flight costs as affordable as £21 for Malta and Ibiza and £26 to Mallorca over the next few months.

Even last-minute vacation trips will not break the bank, with Saturday-Saturday returns from July three to July 10 available thru price comparison website Skyscanner for £87 to Ibiza, £120 to Mallorca and £147 to Valletta.

And one British tourist from Manchester, @speckysi, tweeted: 'It's Russian roulette time again, I've now booked Malta for next week - there is next to nothing cases and zero deaths. All I want is one week in the sun.'

Another, Tristan Dawson from Essex, tweeted that he had 'just booked Mallorca' and was 'determined to have a holiday' - whilst a third, Adam Courtney, stated he had 'gambled and booked' a trip to Malta on Tuesday.

Ministers will today determine whether to change the list of locations where tour without self-isolation is allowed, and will also debate plans for quarantine-free travel to amber list countries for those who are thoroughly vaccinated.
