Woman and Child Killed After Gun Men Shots At Publix Florida

A man fatally shot a woman and a baby before taking his very own life in a Publix grocery store in Royal Palm Beach on Thursday morning, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

The shooting took place inside the store close to the produce area just after 11:30 a.m. at a Publix located in a strip mall that also houses small retail outlets and restaurants.

The company stated late Thursday it would not identify both the woman or the toddler, who would have turned two years old this month. It stated their family had invoked its rights under a 2018 modification to the state constitution, modeled on California's Marsy's Law, that lets in crime victims and their households to withhold their names from public reports.

The sheriff's office recognized the gunman late Thursday as Timothy J. Wall, 55, of Royal Palm Beach. It stated that as of Thursday night, there was "no known cause or relationship between the gunman and his victims."

Officials said a gun was discovered close to Wall's body, and they believe his injuries had been self-inflicted.

At a information convention Thursday afternoon, sheriff's spokesperson Teri Barbera stated detectives had been speaking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance video.

While a handful of Publix employees have been allowed to leave the store, it seemed most employees and some clients were being kept inside to be interviewed with the aid of deputies. At about 2:30 p.m., some employees started leaving the store.

Law enforcement officers have been checking license tags on vehicles in the parking lot. People were not being allowed to move their vehicles.

Nearby residents expressed shock.

"This is a pleasant Publix. I can’t consider this loopy aspect happened," stated Tracy Greene, who frequently shops at the store.
