Columbia Heights Woman Dies After Obvious Home Assault

Police are investigating the demise of a 33-year-old Columbia Heights woman following a home incident.


Officers replied to a 911 medical call at a domestic in the 5100 block of NE. 4th St. at 6 a.m. Saturday. When police arrived, they discovered a woman who had been injured, according to an Anoka County Sheriff's Department information release.


First responders tried to revive the woman, however she died at the scene, police said.


Police did not launch the woman's name or the nature of her injuries Saturday. The case "appears to be an isolated domestic-related incident with no ongoing threat to the public," police said.


Police booked a 32-year-old man on likely cause for first-degree manslaughter, but no formal charges have been filed.

Distancing rules and the wearing of face masks in some situations are being loosened. It comes after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced on Tuesday that a "improved situation" has allowed further Covid restrictions to be eased. Adults participating in organized events with children under the age of five will no longer be obliged to wear face masks. Face-covering exemptions that previously required a two-metre physical separation will be reduced to one metre as of Friday. Exemptions apply in specific indoor situations, such as for receptionists and religious service leaders. A gunman has opened fire on a busy area in Toronto, killing a young woman and injuring 13 other people, one of them was injured critically, police say. A girl of 8 or 9 years was critically injured in the Canadian city's Greektown district, they said. The attacked happened on Danforth Avenue on Sunday evening, when the area was teeming with people, Canada's Globe And Mail newspaper reports. The suspect is dead, reportedly killed in an exchange of shots. The motive for the shooting, which reportedly targeted a restaurant, is still unclear. Toby Okechukwu has revealed that the Federal  Government is currently is currently indebted to road contractors to the tune of N3 trillion with outstanding liability of N300 billion in the ministry of works. Hon. Okechukwu disclosed this in Abuja while speaking at the just concluded 2017 National Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Institution of High way and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE) with the theme: " Transportation Sector Reform Bills: Tools for the Diversification of Nigerian Economy."
