"I Need Weapons, Not A Ride," Zelensky Says, Declining The US Offer To Flee

According to the Ukraine embassy in Britain's Twitter account, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declined an invitation from the US to evacuate the capital city of Kyiv.

"The war is here; I need ammo, not a ride," Zelensky told the US, according to the embassy.

The message continues, "Ukrainians are proud of their President."

"We are not putting down arms," Zelensky stated in a video uploaded on Twitter early Saturday morning.

Despite Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Zelensky remains a "priority target for Russian aggression," according to US State Department spokesperson Ned Price.

It echoed Zelensky's own remarks that he has become a priority target, according to his intelligence.

On Thursday, Zelensky stated that "According to our knowledge, the enemy has designated me as target No. 1, while my family has been designated as target No. 2. They intend to destabilize Ukraine politically by assassinating the president. According to our sources, enemy sabotage forces have penetrated Kyiv."
