Amir Khan Claims He Was Robbed In East London At Gunpoint

Amir Khan, the former world boxing champion, claims he was robbed at gunpoint while out with his wife in Leyton, east London.

The 35-year-old said on Twitter on Monday that two men had a "gun pointed in my face" while they snatched his watch.

"The most important thing is that we're both safe," said the 2008 Olympic silver medalist, who was with his wife Faryal at the time.

After being alerted to an incident on High Road in Leyton at 21:15 BST on Monday, the Metropolitan Police stated they were investigating.

"Two guys allegedly approached a man in his 30s and intimidated him with a handgun before snatching his watch and escaping," police added.

There were no shots fired and no injuries reported. Police were dispatched and performed a search of the surrounding area.

"There have been no arrests at this early point. An inquiry has been launched, and authorities are investigating a variety of leads."

Khan's most recent fight was in February, when he was stopped by fierce rival Kell Brook, after which he stated that the loss could be his last.
