Barkevious Mingo Arrested For Alleged 'Indecency With A Child

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Barkevious Mingo was arrested Thursday and accused of sexual contact with a child, according to the Arlington (Texas) Police Department.


Mingo posted a $25,000 bond and was launched from custody, according to Tarrant County, Texas, bond records.


The alleged offense is a felony in Texas that can carry up to 20 years in jail depending on whether it is a 2nd or third-degree charge.


Mingo turned himself in after talking to his attorney, an Arlington Police press launch stated.


Due to the nature of the alleged incident, the Arlington Police Department could not launch any extra information.


"Our organization grew to become aware of the allegations involving Barkevious Mingo today and are presently gathering information on this incident," the Falcons stated in a assertion to more than one outlets Saturday. "The Falcons take the allegations very seriously and will proceed to monitor the situation."


The Falcons announced they had launched Mingo late Saturday night.


"After being made aware today of allegations involving Barkevious Mingo and gathering information on the matter, the Atlanta Falcons have terminated his contract," the team stated in a statement.


Mingo signed a one-year contract with the Falcons in March. A 2013 first-round pick via the Cleveland Browns, the linebacker has played for 5 teams after being traded to the New England Patriots in 2016.
