A Man From The United States Was Discovered Alive In Glasgow After Feigning Death

After being apprehended at a Glasgow hospital, an American man suspected of faking his own death faces extradition.

Nicholas Rossi, 34, was wanted by Interpol and is accused of rape in Utah.

In December, he was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with Covid-19, under the alias Arthur Knight.

He was held under an international arrest warrant, according to Police Scotland.

Mr Rossi was also known as Nicholas Alahverdian in the state of Rhode Island, where he was involved in local politics and a critic of the state's child welfare system, according to US authorities.

Mr Rossi revealed to the American media in December 2019 that he was suffering with late-stage non-Hodgkin lymphoma and only had weeks to live. He died in February 2020, according to multiple sources.

His ashes were thrown at sea, according to an online memorial that called him a "fighter who fought on the front lines for two decades" for children's rights.

Mr Rossi is thought to have been traced to the QEUH in Glasgow's intensive care unit, where he was on a ventilator. Interpol's red list was unknown to the medical professionals.

On behalf of colleagues in Utah, he was arrested at the hospital by Police Scotland on December 13th.
