According To A Major Tory Contributor, Boris Johnson's Leadership Has Reached A Point Of No Return
Boris Johnson's premiership has passed the point of no return, according to a financier who has donated more than £3 million to the Conservatives.
The issues facing the West, according to John Armitage, necessitate "real, engaged" politicians.
Since Mr Johnson became Prime Minister, he has donated more than £500,000 to the Conservatives, but only £12,500 to Labour last year.
The government remains "completely focused on delivering for the British people," according to a Conservative official.
Mr Johnson reshuffled his cabinet on Tuesday in a bid to reconnect with MPs who are questioning his future in the wake of reports about parties hosted in Downing Street during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
Labour, the Liberal Democrats, the Scottish National Party, and several of his own MPs have all called for him to step down.
Mr Johnson, on the other hand, has stated that he will transform the culture at No 10 and focus on implementing the program that helped him win a landslide victory in the 2019 election.
Mr Armitage, co-founder of hedge fund Egerton Capital, said that the present political scenario is "very disturbing."
Introducing himself as a "Mr Armitage, who describes himself as a "middle-of-the-road conservative," said he admires leaders on both the left and right, and that the West's current global difficulties necessitate "very serious, involved politicians with a sense of purpose."
Mr Armitage continued, "Politicians should enter politics to accomplish good for their country." "That is the most compelling incentive to pursue a career in politics. I don't believe it has anything to do with your desire to reach the top of a snakes-and-ladders game.
