Maksim Chmerkovskiy Claims To Be "Secure" And That He Is "Not Attempting To Flee Ukraine."

Maksim Chmerkovskiy, a Ukrainian-born Dancing With the Stars pro, is keeping fans updated on his safety while he remains in Kyiv, his country's capital, following Russia's invasion.

The 42-year-old professional dancer sent two videos on Friday, telling followers he's 'safe,' but cautioning them about the country's increasingly 'aggressive' and 'dire' condition.

'I'm not moving towards the border... it's, I heard, not safe,' he clarified in the second video, adding that he is 'not now trying to exit' Ukraine.

'I'm out here, again, safe,' he said at the opening of the first video. We haven't been told to move, and all I'm doing is obeying orders. That's all I have to say about it.'

'However, the reality is that I'm also speaking with my Ukrainian friends who are here, and the situation is quite severe.'

People in Ukraine are'very strongly charged,' according to the DWTS pro.

'I think it's going to take a turn towards very, very aggressive measures and a lot more casualties if it's not addressed in a peaceful fashion in some shape or form in the next day or two,' he said.

'There are kids who are getting sick, people are cowering, and individuals who aren't able to just get up and flee, right: tiny children, elderly people,' he added, describing the horrors of the scenario.

'I'm only drawing attention to the fact that this is how it is in every conflict.'
