Storm Eunice Continues To Cause Power Outages, Despite Additional Yellow Warnings
As forecasters issue additional yellow weather warnings for areas of the UK, energy firms are rushing to restore power to thousands of homes.
On Sunday, high winds of up to 70 mph are expected in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with heavy rain in Cumbria, Lancashire, and West Yorkshire.
It comes after three people were murdered in one of the biggest storms to batter the UK in decades on Friday.
Storm Eunice ripped through the United Kingdom, bringing down trees and demolishing roofs.
Greg Dewhurst of the Met Office predicted "a modest abatement in the wind" on Saturday night, but that "it won't be long before they kick up again tomorrow, leading to another windy day across the country."
"Over the course of the day, this will have an impact on the cleanup procedure."
In addition, a yellow rain warning is in effect for Cumbria, Lancashire, and West Yorkshire from midnight Saturday to 18:00 GMT Sunday.
The Energy Networks Association stated in a Saturday update that roughly 155,000 customers in the south and east of England and Wales were still without power, while 1.22 million had been reconnected.
