A Divorced Couple Was Discovered Dead In The Cotswolds Near Cheltenham

At two different places, a divorced couple was found stabbed to death. The distance between them is 15 miles (24 kilometers).

Police discovered the corpse of Clive Warrington, 67, at Sherborne Place in Cheltenham at 06:25 GMT.

Soon after, officers discovered the death of his ex-wife, Valerie Warrington, 73, at a house in the Cotswolds' Bourton-on-the-Water.

In connection with both fatalities, a man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The individual was known to the victims, according to Supt Roddy Gosden of Gloucestershire Police, and they were not seeking for anyone else at the time.

He urged anyone with information to contact him.

The victim's residence on Sherborne Place, where his body was discovered early this morning, is only 200 yards (182m) from John Lewis in the heart of Cheltenham.

As a result, motorists weaving their way between police cordons had to be patient as they watched a dozen or so cops in red jackets searching for clues and calling on doors.

Clive Warrington was known to some, but no one saw or heard anything until the paramedics arrived and proclaimed him dead from stab wounds early in the morning.

Later, Supt Gosden read a prepared statement, revealing that they had discovered another person with stab wounds 15 miles away in Bourton-on-the-Water, Valerie Warrington, 73, who had been married for 50 years.

He stated, " "Family members have been notified, and our hearts go out to them during this difficult time.

"This has been a difficult situation, and we will offer assistance to officers and anyone else who has been affected by the incidents.

"It's understandable that people may be startled to learn that two lives have been tragically lost."

Supt Gosden noted that cordons will be in place at the area for several days, and officers will be stationed in the surrounding towns to provide reassurance.
