How To Get Rid Of Bad Breath Permanently

Get rid of bad breath

Bad breath, known medically as halitosis, is commonly seen as a sign of poor oral hygiene.

To find out if halitosis can be permanently ruled out, you, your doctor, and dentist will first need to look at its likely causes.

  What can cause bad breath?

Bad breath can come from a variety of causes and can also be a warning sign of illness. Possible causes include:

Poor oral hygiene: Not brushing your teeth every day or flossing every day, not cleaning your dentures can lead to shortness of breath.

Certain Foods: Ingesting raw garlic and onion is known to cause bad breath. This is due to the substances they release after breaking down in the stomach and reaching the lungs through the circulation.

Tobacco: Besides their smell, smoking and chewing tobacco can cause gum disease and bad breath.

Oral infections: Dental conditions, such as tooth decay, can cause bad breath.

Decreased salivation / dry mouth: You may have decreased salivation due to salivary gland disorders or medical conditions, such as xerostomia (dry mouth), which can be caused by several factors such as certain medications, aging, alcohol and tobacco use, and cancer therapy. Sleeping with your mouth wide open can also cause a dry mouth and bad breath.

Medicines: Medicines such as antihistamines (used to relieve allergies) and those that urinate frequently (diuretics) can cause dry mouth and bad breath.

Chronic reflux of stomach acids (gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD) or digestive problems

Diabetes

A foreign body (such as a piece of food) lodged in a nostril (usually found in children)

Diseases of the nose or throat: such as sinusitis and rhinitis can cause postnasal discharge and bad breath.

How To Get Rid Of Bad Breath Permanently

- Use a tongue scraper or tongue cleaner on the back of the toothbrush to clean your tongue at least once a day.

- Rinse with Mouthwash: Look for a good over-the-counter mouthwash (like peppermint) that can help you fight and mask bad breath.

- Clean your dental implants: You should clean dental implants, such as dentures, with a cleaning solution every day (ask your dentist).

- Do things that prevent dry mouth: drink plenty of water and fluids, and eat juicy fruit.

- Wash your mouth after eating certain foods:

You can avoid eating foods that cause bad breath, such as garlic and onions, or brush them after eating them.

- Avoid sugary sweets and chew sugarless gum:

Eating lots of sugary foods is also linked to bad breath. Forget the sugary candy and suck on the sugarless candy or chewing gum. This will help increase salivation and prevent the mouth from emitting a foul odor due to the dry tongue.

- Change your toothbrush regularly: Replace your old toothbrush every 34 months or after its bristles have frayed.

 - Visit a dentist regularly: If you have vetures or other dental accessories (and you suffer from bad breath), see a dentist at least twice a year to have them checked and cleaned.
