Nigeria's President Buhari Again Travels to London for medical reasons

Image
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed to London on Friday for what his office described as a ‘scheduled medical follow-up.’ The Nigerian chief and members of his household robotically travel to the UK for medical treatment amidst the inadequate and poorly outfitted hospitals in the oil-rich country. Despite public criticisms of his preceding trips, such as one at a period medical doctors in Nigeria had been on strike, the Nigerian leader, who has spent six years in office, seems unperturbed by what critics have described as medical tourism. Femi Adesina, the president’s spokesman, confirmed the latest trip in a announcement in Abuja on Thursday. “He is due back in the country all through the 2nd week of July, 2021,’’ the presidential aide stated; indicating the Nigerian president will spend about two weeks in London for the medical attention. The president returned from his last medical trip to London in April.

Two Million Nigerians Obtain COVID-19 Jabs

Image
More than two million Nigerians have obtained the first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency declared in Abuja on Thursday. Its Executive Director, Dr Faisal Shuaib, informed newsmen that 2,099,568 people have been vaccinated with their first doses, whilst 1,005,234 have received their second doses of the vaccine as at Thursday. He stated the agency had prolonged the timeline for the administration of 2nd doses of the vaccine from June 25 to July 5. He explained that the choice to lengthen the timeline resulted from considerable constraints of various financial and social engagements of recipients. Shuaib counseled those who acquired the first dose not later than May 13 to visit the nearest vaccination site to receive the 2nd dose as quickly as feasible for full protection. He stated that the administration of first doses is still on-going and advised Nigerians to avail themselves of the opportunity.

Groups Report: 751Dead Bodies Discovered at Indigenous school in Saskatchewan

Image
REGINA, Saskatchewan — Leaders of Indigenous groups in Canada said Thursday investigators have found 751 unmarked graves at the site of a former residential school for Indigenous children — a discovery that follows last month's report of 215 at another school. "This was a crime against humanity, an assault on First Nations," said Chief Bobby Cameron of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous First Nations in Saskatchewan. He said he expects more graves will be found on residential school grounds across Canada. "We will not stop until we find all the bodies." The bodies were discovered at the Marieval Indian Residential School, which operated from 1899 to 1997 where the Cowessess First Nation is now located, about 85 miles east of Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan. Chief Cadmusn Delmore of the Cowessess said that the graves were marked at one time, but that the Roman Catholic Church that operated the school had removed the markers. "The Pope needs to apol

Almost all COVID-19 deaths in US are now amongst unvaccinated

Image
Nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. now are in people who weren’t vaccinated, a astounding demonstration of how tremendous the shots have been and an indication that deaths per day — now down to under 300 — could be virtually zero if everyone eligible received the vaccine. An Associated Press evaluation of available government data from May indicates that “breakthrough” infections in wholly vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 of more than 853,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations. That’s about 0.1%. And solely about a hundred and fifty of the more than 18,000 COVID-19 deaths in May were in thoroughly vaccinated people. That translates to about 0.8%, or 5 deaths per day on average. The AP analyzed figures provided via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC itself has not estimated what percentage of hospitalizations and deaths are in fully vaccinated people, citing boundaries in the data. Among them: Only about forty five states report breakthrough infections,

Miami Beach Building Collapse 'Many Fear Dead'

Image
A wing of a 12-story beachfront condominium building collapsed with a roar in a city outside Miami early Thursday, killing at least one person and trapping residents in rubble and twisted metal. Rescuers pulled dozens of survivors from the tower during the morning and continued to look for more. Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett warned that the death toll was likely to rise, saying the building manager informed him the tower was quite full at the time of the collapse round 1:30 a.m., but the actual number of people present was unclear. “The building is actually pancaked,” Burkett said. “That is heartbreaking because it doesn’t mean, to me, that we are going to be as successful as we desired to be in discovering people alive.” Hours after the collapse, searchers had been making an attempt to reach a trapped baby whose dad and mom were believed to be dead. In another case, rescuers saved a mom and child, but the woman’s leg had to be amputated to get rid of her from the rubble, Frank Roll

Rudy Giuliani has been temporarily suspended from practicing regulation in New York for making inaccurate  statements" as he bolstered the narrative that widespread voter fraud stole the presidency from his client, former President Donald Trump. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump's failed effort at reelection in 2020," in accordance to a 33-page decision issued Thursday by the New York Supreme Court's appellate division. Giuliani, former mayor of New York and a longtime fixture in New York City politics, has been at the forefront of Trump's failed effort to reverse the outcomes of the election he had lost.

Britney Spear Has Broken Her Silence About Her "Abusive" Conservatorship.

Image
The 39-year-old pop celebrity addressed the court herself Wednesday for the first known time in more than two years following the increased interest in her conservatorship after the launch of The New York Times' "Framing Britney Spears" documentary and the #FreeBritney motion organized by her fans. "I’m not here to be anyone’s slave," Spears stated whilst appearing in Los Angeles court remotely via telephone. "I’ve lied and told the entire world I’m OK and I'm happy. It's a lie. I thought that possibly if I stated it enough, I would perhaps become happy due to the fact I've been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized … I’m so irritated it’s insane. And I'm depressed." No longer keeping back, Spears condemned her father and the others who have managed her conservatorship: "I certainly believe this conservatorship is abusive. … I do not feel like I can live a full life. … I desire this conservatorship to stop without havin
