A Homicide Investigation Has Been Launched After Firefighters Located A Woman's Body In The Burnt-Out Remains Of A Home.
Police have stated the woman has been recognized as 68-year-old Linda Hood and a autopsy examination has tested she died from 'compression of the neck'.
Officers were called to the domestic in Gorleston, close to Great Yarmouth, on Friday morning whilst firefighters battled the blaze.
Ms Hood, who was just 4ft 10 inches and nicknamed 'Little Linda' by neighbours, was found inside the property and was declared lifeless at the scene.
The Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team have launched a homicide investigation and are appealing for information.
The force says Ms Hood's subsequent of kin has been informed.
The alarm was raised just after 9am via neighbours who opened her front door and realised that her home was full of smoke.
One neighbour said: 'She was a stunning woman and would usually say whats up to everyone.
'She used to have a job delivering free newspapers all over the city and carried on doing that till a couple of years in the past when she had to give up due to the fact she had issues with her legs.
'We used to see her pulling round her little shopping trolley stuffed with papers. Even when she had mobility problems, she would be limping along. She was such a challenging worker.
'She had lived in her residence for round forty years and everybody around here knew her. I can not think about what has occurred and why anybody would prefer to harm her. It is really awful.
'Her husband Alan died around 5 years and they did not have any children. The solely close family she had were a brother in London and her husband's sister.'
