senior BBC journalist is pressured to flee to safety after being chased via anti-lockdown protesters in central London.
Newsnight political editor Nicholas Watt ran behind a line of police close to Downing Street, as large-scale protests in opposition to the Government's extension to lockdown became ugly.
Shocking pictures from yesterday's protest indicates a baying mob surrounding the journalist as they shout abuse, calling him a 'traitor', 'liar' and 'scum'.
The video starts with the journalist - seen wearing a blue BBC lanyard round his neck - being followed by a group of protesters on Whitehall.
One protester is heard asking 'why have you lied' as Mr Watt peacefully tries to proceed on his journey.
But he seems to be blocked off and, after being surrounded, shortly performs an about-turn and heads toward Downing Street.
As he does, a man is seen to shout in Mr Watt's face - with his head coming within inches of the journalist's.
Mr Watts then starts offevolved to run away from the group, who give chase and proceed to shout abuse.
He manages to get to safety behind a line of police officers standing in the front of Downing Street.
