Rapper Biz Markie Till Alive Regardless Of Death Rumors
Despite rumors and condolences from fellow musicians, New York-bred rap pioneer Biz Markie is still alive, according to his publicist.
“Biz is still under medical care, surrounded via professionals who are working hard to provide the quality healthcare possible,” the publicist told the Daily News Thursday.
“Biz’s spouse and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and followers alike. At this time, we ask for your persisted thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.”
The 57-year-old Harlem-born rapper, known best for his 1989 single “Just a Friend,” has struggled with his health for years, dating back to a diabetes diagnosis in 2010. Three years later, he informed the Daily News that he had dropped about one hundred forty pounds in an effort to control his weight and manage his health.
“I walk. I do the treadmill, I stroll round the mall,” Biz informed The News at the time. “I do a little crunches with my stomach, not that much.”
He reportedly suffered a stroke lately and last summer season TMZ stated that he had been hospitalized in Maryland.
