It's A Sin, A Drama About HIV/AIDS, Is Nominated For The Bafta TV Awards

With 11 nominations, It's A Sin is leading the charge for this year's Bafta TV Awards.

The Channel 4 drama, which follows a group of friends amid the 1980s Aids crisis, is competing for five acting awards as well as best mini-series.

Olly Alexander, Lydia West, Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells, and David Carlyle are vying for best actor, best actress, and best supporting actor, respectively.

Time, Help, and Sex Education are among the other shows that have received multiple nominations.

It's A Sin was "the most devastating drama of the year, and probably for me, of my whole life," according to TV critic Scott Bryan.

"It was very meaningful to so many people... showing up," he continued.

"It was tremendously important to so many people," he continued, "presenting a part of LGBTQA+ history that has never been depicted in drama before."

Last week, the nominations for the Must-See Moment, the only award that is decided by public voting, were announced.

On Strictly Come Dancing, Rose and Giovanni's quiet dance, Adele's reunion with her former instructor on An Audience With Adele, and Ant and Dec's dig at Downing Street's lockdown parties on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

In the best entertainment program category, Strictly Come Dancing and Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway will compete against previous year's winners Life and Rhymes and An Audience with Adele.

Sean Lock, Alison Hammond, Big Zuu, Graham Norton, Joe Lycett, and Michael McIntyre are among the nominees for best entertainment performance for 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Big Zuu, whose Big Eats show is also nominated in the features category, shared his amazement on social media in a bleary-eyed early morning video.

Norton is also nominated for best comic entertainment programme, and the talk show host remarked that being nominated was "still a thrill" after winning eight Baftas previously.

The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan is also in the running for the comedic entertainment category, and he tweeted that he "couldn't be happier."
