Andrii Kravchuk, A Ukrainian Refugee, Has Been Allowed To Train With Manchester City

Manchester City has been granted Premier League permission to work with Ukrainian refugee Andrii Kravchuk.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, a City and Ukraine defender, was instrumental in the decision.

At Shakhtar Donetsk, the two played together as teenagers.

When the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, Kravchuk was at a training camp in Turkey with his Russian team Torpedo Moscow.

The 23-year-old midfielder has now ended his contract and relocated to Manchester, where he will train with City's Under-23 team for the rest of the season.

When it came to playing for a Russian club, Kravchuk remarked, "I felt incredibly uncomfortable."

"I was having fun in a country that had invaded my native country." The only option was to leave the club. If I continued to play in Ukraine, the people would not understand me."

Kravchuk's family has remained in Kyiv, where his brother Aleks is a member of the Ukrainian military.

"Every day, I tell him how proud I am of him for safeguarding not only our family, but the entire country and the Ukrainian people." Kravchuk added, "He's staying and fighting."

"I'm very concerned. I'm always getting messages with bombing alerts because I'm in groups on my phone. I'm always nervous when those alerts come through. Your only concern is that my family will die.

Kravchuk expressed his gratitude to Manchester City for allowing him to practice with the team, as well as to his countrymen Zinchenko for his assistance in resolving the issue.

"The last few weeks and months have been so difficult for me," he continued, "but to be back on the pitch means everything to me."

Zinchenko expressed his regret that "circumstances were totally different," but said that it was "wonderful to be back with Andrii."

"I understand how important football is to him and how it might help us get through these trying times," Zinchenko added.

Despite Fifa modifying their rules to allow overseas players in the Russian Premier League to sign for clubs in the Premier League, the Premier League denied Burnley's bid for Victor Moses from Spartak Moscow earlier this month.
