Estelle Harris, Star Of Seinfeld And Toy Story, Has Died At The Age Of 93
Estelle Harris, a film and television actress from the United States, died at the age of 93.
She was most recognized for her role as Estelle Costanza, George Costanza's mother, on the Seinfeld series in the 1990s.
Harris transformed Costanza into a fictitious mother beloved by fans for her ridiculous comments, thanks to her trademark high-pitched voice and short-fused anger.
In Toy Story 2, she also voiced the animated Mrs Potato Head, a role she reprised twice.
Harris, on the other hand, became a household name thanks to his appearances on Seinfeld, where he appeared in scores of episodes over the course of five seasons.
In 1992, Harris made her television debut as Estelle Costanza, the controlling mother of romantically insecure George Costanza.
In the episode, Estelle nags her son George so much that he attempts in vain to persuade her to move to Florida permanently, far away from the New York City neighborhood where the show is situated.
"Even though she's a pain in the neck, she's the mother that everyone loves," Harris told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 1998.
Audiences "Just think of her as a loudmouth who is both humorous and cute. But that isn't how I portray her. I'm going to play her with a miser underneath her "she stated.
After Seinfeld's nine-season run ended, Harris went on to play a variety of roles on theater and television.
