The Kremlin Denies That Putin's Advisers Are Leading Him Astray

Declassified Putin's senior advisers have allegedly been "too afraid to tell him the truth" about the situation on the ground, according to US intelligence.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is being mislead by his advisers on Russia's battlefield defeats, according to the Kremlin.

"Neither the State Department nor the Pentagon have true information about what is happening in the Kremlin," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said at a daily news briefing on Thursday.

"They simply do not comprehend what is going on in the Kremlin," he said, warning that "such a complete ignorance leads to erroneous and reckless actions that have extremely serious implications."

It comes after declassified US information revealed that Putin's top advisers were "too terrified to tell him the truth" about the situation on the ground.

The Biden administration revealed a proposal to release about 1 million barrels of oil per day for up to six months from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

According to the city council of Mariupol, a convoy of 17 buses was able to depart the besieged port city of Mariupol on Thursday morning, with more evacuations planned for Friday. Meanwhile, the Pentagon reported that Russian forces around Kyiv had moved north or into Belarus, with both the United States and the United Kingdom claiming that the troops were looking to replenish and regroup.
