Ukraine: The United Kingdom is evacuating some diplomatic personnel from Kyiv.

A Ukrainian civilian participates in a training drill - Russian military have been bolstering their presence along the Ukrainian border.

Following Russian invasion predictions, the UK has begun to withdraw workers from the British embassy in Ukraine.

There have been no explicit threats to British diplomats, according to officials, but around half of the staff in Kyiv will return to the UK.

It comes as the US has urged the relatives of its diplomatic workers in Ukraine to flee the country, warning that a Russian invasion might happen "at any time."

Russia has stated that it has no plans to intervene militarily in Ukraine.

Due to the continued tensions and the "potential for harassment against US nationals," the US State Department has advised travelers not to travel to Ukraine and Russia.

According to a State Department advisory, there are rumors that Russia is considering significant military action against Ukraine.

The move is, however, cautious, and nothing specific is believed to have transpired in the last 24 hours to have prompted it.

Non-essential Staff from the US embassy has also been advised they can leave, and US citizens have been encouraged to do so.

The US has stated that this is not an evacuation, but the State Department has stated that in the event of a Russian invasion, it "will not be in a position to evacuate US nationals," according to the AFP news agency.

At this time, the European Union will not follow suit. Josep Borrell, the EU's Security Policy chief, has stated that he will not "dramatise" the situation.
