Traci Braxton Died At The Age Of 50 After A Long Battle With Cancer

Traci Braxton, a singer, actor, and reality TV star, died at the age of 50.

Braxton had been suffering esophageal cancer, according to her family.

"We have reached to the point where we must inform the public that our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory after a year of discreetly undergoing a course of therapy for Esophageal cancer," her husband Kevin Surratt said in a statement.

Braxton died with her sisters, mother, and friends by her side, according to her publicist Tomasina Perkins-Washington.

She also spent her last year in hospice, Perkins-Washington said.

"The first thing she said when I told her she was sick was I'm going to fight and beat this," her son, Kevin Surratt Jr., wrote on Instagram on Saturday. "She battled till the bitter end, and now she is at rest."

"I've always loved my mum and this hurts so much, but I'm at peace knowing she's no longer in suffering," he continued. "I love you, mum, and I'll miss you."

Braxton, who was born in 1971, was recognized for her work in films such as "Sinners Wanted" and "Chaaw," as well as the stage production "There's a Stranger in My House."
