Dot Cotton Of EastEnders, June Brown Has Died At The Age Of 95

June Brown, who portrayed Dot Cotton on EastEnders for over three decades, has died at the age of 95.

Her family expressed their "great sadness" at the news that their "loving mother" died "quite peacefully" at her home on Sunday.

She was praised as a "wonderful woman" by EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt.

Dot Cotton was a fan favorite and one of the longest-running characters on the BBC One soap opera.

Brown first appeared in EastEnders in 1985, the year the show was first broadcast.

She stayed until 1993, then returned to reprise the role from 1997 to 2020.

"There are no words to convey how much June was liked and treasured by everyone at EastEnders; her loving warmth, wit, and fantastic humour will never be forgotten," an EastEnders spokeswoman stated.

"June established one of the most iconic characters in Dot Cotton, not just in soap but in British television, and her extraordinary performances created some of EastEnders finest moments, having starred in 2884 episodes."

Brown, one of EastEnders' most well-known stars, joined Albert Square in her late 50s.
