TINUBU DENIES ESCAPING TO PARIS DURING THE LEKKI TOLL GATE MASACRE

Bola Tinubu denies escaping to Paris during the Lekki toll gate masacre. He made this known on Saturday when he paid a visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House in Marina. Addressing journalists after the meeting with the governor, Tinubu denies the fact that he travel out of the country as reported by some sections of the media. He told reporters that the purpose of his meeting with Sanwo-Olu was to ask him if he had ordered soldiers to attack #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday. The former Lagos state governor said he asked Sanwo-Olu “if he didn’t order the attack, who ordered the attack? That’s all I needed from him.” He also said that his son Seyi Tinubu was not kidnapped that it was a fake news. Earlier, a video went viral of some people in Paris calling out Tinubu when he was leaving the hotel he lodged in. Another Video was made earlier when some angry youths in London were hiting his son. Could this be a mirage?

GHANA AIRPORT WILL BE REOPEN ON SEPTEMBER 1

Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana's president has announced decisions to re-open the country’s air borders. In a televised address Sunday night,  his 15th update on the government’s measures to combat coronavirus, Mr Akufo-Addo set September 1 as the potential re-opening date of the country’s airports. According to the president, the Ministry of Aviation, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and the Ghana Airports Co. Ltd., have been working with the Ministry of Health and its agencies, to ascertain the country’s readiness to reopen its airport. “I want to ensure we are in the position to test every single passenger who arrives in the country to avoid the spread of the virus. The outcome of that exercise will show us the way and determine when we can reopen our border by air,” he said. “I am hoping by God’s grace, we will be ready to do so by September 1,” the president added. CBN DONATES INTERVENTION FUNDS OF 338.6B

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) donated N338.6billion coronavirus (COVID-19) connected intervention funds to assigned sectors across.  Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), member  Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, who made this known in a note disclosed by the apex bank, said reports of the implementation of the CBN’s COVID-19 intervention had shown significant progress in disbursements. Over N152.9 billion (or 15.2 per cent) of the N1 trillion targeted support for the manufacturing sector has been disbursed. Of the N100 billion Healthcare funds, N26.278 billion (or 26.3 per cent) has been disbursed to fund 20 projects. Additional 16 applications for N67.413 billion were under processing. Of the N50 billion Targeted Credit Facility for Households and Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises(MSMEs), N49.195 billion has been disbursed to 91,736 beneficiaries, while N1.5 billion was disbursed to 169 beneficiaries under the Creative Industry Financing Initiative. Nigerian lady set to wed in October, crushed to death by truck in Lagos

A Nigerian lady, identified as Immaculate Okochu who was set to be married in October, after she had her introduction in March has been crushed to death by a truck in Lagos. The quite tragic incident happened on Wednesday, moments after posting a selfie on her Facebook page. The young Lady before her demise was the assistant restaurant manager at Cold Stone Creamery Nigeria. Friends have since taken to her Facebook page to pay condolence. The deceased was described as a rare gem who was more than a friend to a lot of people. May soul rest in peace. Her sister wrote this on her facebook wall:

Nnamdi Collins, Nigeria-eligible central defender has been called up to Borrusia Dortmund first team as they start preparations for the upcoming season.  Collins at the age of 16 was among the 31 Dortmund players, including Jadon Sancho, Manuel Akanji and Erling Haaland, that arrived in Bad Ragaz, where they are holding their summer training camp for the tenth time, as informed at the  official website of Borussia Dortmund .     Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU president anncounced that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has on Monday reveal the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) as a business venture of some interest groups .  He stated this in a letter directed to zonal leaders of the union. ASUU has been on strike to get unfulfilled agreements signed with the federal government implemented. The union in disagreement  kicked against the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).  ASUU president in the letter, include that arrangements are now underway by the union to make an initial presentation of its University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) to the Federal Government. Japan's whale meat first trade hunt over the years gets top dollar at auction

Chunks of meat from the first whales caught since Japan resumed commercial whaling this week fetched "celebration prices" at auction yesterday. The fresh meat sold for up to NZ$210 per kilogram, several times higher than the prices paid for Antarctic minkes, at a wholesale market in Sendai, one of several cities on Japan's northern coasts to hold the auction. The meat came from two minkes caught by a fleet of five catcher boats off the northern city of Kushiro on Monday when Japan resumed commercial whaling after 31 years. During those years it conducted research hunts in the Antarctic and the northwestern Pacific that conservationists criticized as a cover for banned commercial hunts. Japan left the International Whaling Commission on June 30 and has promised the whalers will stay within its 200-mile exclusive economic zone waters. The Fisheries Agency set the catch quota through the end of the year at 227 whales — fewer than the 627 Japan had hunted
